Week2: Project Brief & Interim Outcomes
2019-10-11 / cloudy
Brief: Design a conversation between a human and a machine.
Partner: Feye & Sia & Jiayi
My Inspiration
When we first saw this topic, we tried to create a connection between humans and objects that were difficult to communicate. We thought of the dialogue between plants, babies and people. In the workshop on Wednesday, we found different perspectives on the techniques of face recognition, so we felt that this point is very interesting, and we want to start a conversation from the perspective of people and cameras. In fact, Face recognition technology is very common in China. For example, at the train station, most of the city is no longer using paper tickets, or you can brush your face into the station.
So in our country, it is generally believed that this is normal. But there are still many people who think this is a terrible thing. We asked our classmates what is the most concerned about face recognition technology? Our classmates told us that we feel that our privacy is being violated anytime, anywhere. After the workshop, our team discussed it and thought that in June of this year, there was an application called zao. You can upload your own photos to change the face of a person in a video to your face. For example, a movie video, you can become the protagonist of the movie as you like. This app didn't take long to appear, and many people objected to the app because everyone thought it was collecting facial information from everyone. If this information falls into the hands of the bad guys. The result will be terrible. You will even see your video appear on porn sites.
While we were accessing the information online, we found a video from yourtube.
The video is as follows:

Application of Face Recognition Technology in the Entrance of Chinese Secondary Schools
Discussion at workshop
This is a Chinese ordinary girl who replaced her face with the face of a Hong Kong film actress through this software.
Confirmation Topic
Through this video, I discussed and reflected with my team members. It is found that in China, the public's attention to privacy issues is indeed not high. China's use of surveillance cameras has indeed strengthened the restrictions on citizens' behavioral norms. On the other hand, there are still many loopholes in laws and regulations on privacy breaches. Therefore, our team unanimously decided to reflect this problem in the form of video production, and at the same time reflect the conversation between people and surveillance cameras.
Storyboard
In the video, the problem we most want to reflect is that when the person and the camera are interacting, our information has been recorded by this machine. The camera looks like a machine, but it can also be a weapon. As long as others can get my video, it means that all my personal information can be easily mastered, including phone number, home address, etc.So I designed the content of the video with fei. It is the dialogue between the person and the machine. The machine can tell all the information about the person opposite, just like two people are talking. Including when and where to appear, there is no privacy. Then sia drew a storyboard based on our thoughts. The video was finally shot and edited by me.
Feedback
On Monday, after we completed the presentation, the teachers and classmates gave us feedback. I will summarize the following points:
-
The topic is good, but it is too broad and needs to be narrowed down to one aspect.
-
Did not use AEIOU
-
Did not go to the scene to observe
-
Did not do enough research
We have summed up all these issues and solved them one by one in the next work.
