AEIOU

We spent an hour in the library looking at what happens to people with artificial light. Then we spent another five hours in the coffee shop observing how changes in natural light would affect people. (a window seat, for example). First we complete the recording of AEIOU.

Behavior Mapping

I observed six students studying in the library. The library has a window seat and a non-window seat. On the whole, most of the students sat beside a window, and few of them chose a window seat. But I think the question is, the light by the window is better, more suitable for reading, but why fewer people choose. Finally, I chose to observe two students who sat by the window and four who did not sit by the window. I chose four points, namely the number of times I looked at my phone, drinking water, taking a rest with my eyes closed, and talking with acquaintances. Through the result analysis of mapping, students sitting beside the window are more likely to be affected by the mobile phone, and the light on the mobile phone screen is also a kind of artificial light. This also explains my question above, because the phone charger is not located beside a window, which is more important than the choice of natural light.

The results were similar to those in the library, with those who sat near the window playing with their phones less than those in the center. For modern life, the mobile phone has become an inseparable companion. So we decided to do some research and experiments on how the light on the phone screen affects people's moods and behavior. For example, when you wake up in the morning, are you awakened by natural light or by the screen light generated by a bunch of notifications.

Feedback

When we talked with John about our ideas, John gave us the feedback that this view was interesting, but he still did not want us to be bound by the routine scenes and ideas. We should expand our thinking and find some interesting work and scenes in our lives that are easy to ignore. And we can think more broadly about light, such as how light reflects or how different colors of light affect people. After the tutorial, our group discussed it again. In the end, we decided that Aarushi and I would split up into a group and we would collaborate on a set of experiments. The content of the experiment is to convey 6 people to wear colored glasses in their daily life. Different environments (indoor/outdoor) and activities such as cooking the aquarium. Then Lee and Mel divided into a group and they would shoot a group of Light mapping. The idea of this method is to capture pictures throughout a day under the same camera aperture and shutter speed setting.

The Experiment Of Light

Therefore, we decided to select four working environments with special lighting for each person, and finally determined a scene for field research through discussion.

Presentation

This Wednesday is the day for our project to report to Fjord company. Each of our team members was both nervous and excited. Throughout the 15-minute presentation, we Shared our research and ideas from the last three weeks with the Fjord designers. They affirmed our research methods and found our video very interesting. For example, we can draw some illustrations to show this working space. The design of this space can be very bold. After the speech, our group hugged each other and we were proud of each other, which was a great experience for me.

My roommate can't tell if the food is cooked. Wearing these filter glasses, everyone feels uncomfortable and has trouble seeing. I think through the glasses experiment we found that people for a single light very does not adapt, so we wanted to work for special occasions, such as the people on the night shift, like bioluminescent, why the firefly glows and jellyfish these animals, perhaps because of their living environment, jellyfish live in the depths of the sea, Fireflies are active at night.
